Be an innovator this upcoming school year.ย

First day of school! First day of school!

It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year: Back to School! For someone who’s been out of school for nearly three years, I still get giddy when I see the rulers and notebooks being put on display. I’m extremely organized and love the idea of being able to start over with a new school year.

If only adults could have the same chance to start over… ๐Ÿค”

Here’s what’s inside my Sephora Play this month:

beautyblender micro.mini

Call me a sucker for tiny, adorable items.

This was my first-ever item received from the brand beautyblender. I’ve had my fair share of knock-off beauty sponges, but never have got my hands on the actual brand. If you ask me, spending $20 on a beauty sponge for the sake of the name is a little ridiculous.

But there’s a reason why so many people love them.

I’m not much of a concealer user, which is what this micro.mini sponge is ideal for. Conveniently, I also received a concealer in this post (which you’ll read about later) so I had no excuse to not test it out.

To use a beauty blender properly, you have to saturate it with water. This will allow the sponge to literally double in size (yeah, science!). Bounce it off the skin to spread the product around and voila. Coverage.

If we’re being totally honest, I didn’t notice that much of a difference compared to other beauty sponges I’ve used in the past. This little guy is a good addition for the time being, but in the event that he gets worn out, I don’t see myself running to get another one to replace him.

TOO FACED Mascara Melt Off Cleansing Oil

One of the main reasons why I don’t buy waterproof mascara is because of how harsh I have to rub my eyes to get even the slightest bit off.

Let me introduce you to the game-changer.

This cleansing oil dissolves mascara with ease and its green tea extract leaves lashes conditioned. The precision wand, which if you look at it, doesn’t look much like much of anything, helps coat the lashes from root to tip. I like to let the cleansing oil sit on my lashes for about 60 seconds and then I wipe it away with a warm, damp wash cloth.

Granted, I’ve only used this on normal mascara, but I’m a firm believer this would work wonders on waterproof mascara simply based on how well it removed the regular. My natural lashes don’t need a ton of moisture, but I like knowing that they’re getting a little dose of pampering.

Too Faced hasn’t been impressing me lately with their collection, but this product might be a game-changer when it comes to my daily routine. If I notice a difference in the health of my lashes, I might restock.

KAT VON D Lock-It Concealer Creme in #11

If you were to take a look into my collection, you’d see that at least 40% of it is composed of Kat Von D items. I’m talking foundations, I’m talking eye liners, I’m talking palettes, hell, I’m even talking setting powder.

The one thing you won’t find, however, is a concealer. Until now.

Sephora is always hooking your girl up with the things she doesn’t realize she needs until it’s too late. I literally screamed when I saw that I had a KVD item in my Play Box (let alone two more later on!) because the Lock-It collection has been my go-to foundation routine for a little over a year. I’ve tested out others, but I’ve always gone back to the Lock-It foundation and primer.

I’m not a big concealer fan as it is, since I don’t get a lot of bags under my eyes. I’m definitely one of those people who aim to get at least 7 hours a sleep a night (sleepy people, ftw). However, with my work’s busy schedule coming up, there’s going to be plenty of late nights and early mornings where this will definitely become my BFF.

I’m living for the application wand because it narrows towards the top, allowing me to get right into the corner of my eyes. It’s hella pigmented, which helps for correcting (looking at you, acne that decided to crash on my cheeks!).

It left my skin a little tacky, which I like because then I know my setting powder will adhere to it. In all, when I need a new concealer, I know where to turn to.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Consider me a bum bum girl.

Before we even discuss anything about this, the sole reason you need bum bum cream in your life is because of its fragrance. When I say this is, 100%, hands-down the BEST smelling body cream I’ve ever used, that’s no exaggeration. It smells like I’m being swept away to a tropical island, like a glowing bronzed goddess I am with the best bum bum in the game.

Not only is this for your tush, it can be used anywhere! Tummy, arms, whatever you need tightened. I’ve used this on my stomach, my chest, my bum bum and my arms and immediately felt a difference. You can feel the warming sensation of the guarana seed that helps tighten and firm the skin.

And even if this stuff didn’t tighten the skin, the fragrance alone is well worth the money. The scent lasts all day and I’ve received a lot of compliments on it. I’m literally obsessed with it and haven’t been able to shut up about it.

LIVING PROOF Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo

We all know I swore the Living Proof In-Shower Styler up and down. Now, it’s time to add another Living Proof addiction to my hair routine.

For years (no exaggeration), I’ve been meaning to get my hands on this dry shampoo since it’s been called one of the best in the biz. But, of course your girl is hella frugal and didn’t want to spend the money on it. There’s no excuses not to try it when it comes in your subscription boxes.

This dry shampoo has such a pleasant, clean smell that refreshes even the dirtiest of hair. It left a very white overcast on my hair, which I personally like so I can see what needs to be shaken through more, and it left my hair feeling significantly cleaner.

I love to extend my washes for as long as I can (My current streak is at 4 days, which I’m trying to overcome so bad!) and I really only wash my hair 2-3 times a week, depending. This is a perfect addition to my daily routine because it leaves my hair feeling clean, refreshed and smelling as if I just washed.

KAT VON D Saint & Sinner perfumes

This month’s Play Box was high-key the best simply because of its perfume selection. We get a two-for-one! Not just a two-for-one, but a KVD two-for-one!

When I saw KVD was releasing perfume, I was stoked. More than stoked. Elated. When I saw there were TWO fragrances coming out, I squealed because she couldn’t have struck a better cord when it comes to the story her makeup tells.

The Saint fragrance is florally, but not like you’ve strolled through a garden. Its middle notes of jasmine and Tiare Flower compliments each other perfectly (Funny story: Tiare Flower is one of my favorite scents of all time. S/O to the Tahitian Tiare Flower scent from Yankee Candle!) and its citrusy blend makes it crisp and clean.

The Sinner fragrance, which I thought would have been my go-to with its warm and spicy fragrance family, however disappointed me. At first. The patchouli is very strong and it almost has a sharpness to it that really turned me away.

After wearing it and letting it settle with my body composition, I ended up loving how long lasting it was and how those hints of cinnamon got me ready for fall.

It’s a hard decision to pick which one I was totally in love with, since both offer such unique scents, but I’ll always opt for Saint because of the Tiare Flower. It might even be a pick-up I make when it’s time to buy a new perfume.

Sinner Rating: 4.5 out of 5
